TALAVERA POBLANA JEWELRY DESIGNS
I am intrigued by unique, ethnic beads that reflect the cultures that produced them.
While taking cooking classes in Puebla, I fell in love with talavera poblana ceramics and I went
in search of talavera beads to use in my jewelry designs. There were none to be found.
And so I met with the owners of several of the government-certified
talavera workshops and persuaded one to make beads for me. After much
trial and error, they found a way to make exquisite beads in the traditional
16th century process that exemplify the splendor of the best talavera ceramic pottery.
My jewelry designs incorporate talavera poblana beads, enhanced by
world-renowned Taxco silver and other elements, to create jewelry pieces
that are truly one-of-a-kind and which reflect the vibrant talavera poblana art form.
